Movie night

We got to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night. It was pretty funny, including the frontal male nudity that we were not expecting. I think it took most of the theater by surprise. It had a lot of known actors and actresses that made for a great film. Most of all, we got to escape the house with no tears and Luke got to enjoy the popcorn. It was also nice to see other familiar faces out and be able to meet their significant others.
Still feeling the effects of spring with my springtime cold/allergies that I have had since this weekend. I would really like to breath thru my nose at some point this week! We have a guy coming today to hook up the rest of the phone, cable and internet lines in the basement today. I am not sure how long I will be off line with the internet while he moves lines around. I'll be back soon!

New neighbors

Yesterday, we found that we have some new neighbors. Unwanted new neighbors. Not sure what it/they are, but they burrowed in next to the house by the garage. You can see the dirt against the brick where they must have been digging pretty vigorously. Our idea to welcome them includes a hose and a shovel.

Emmett has discovered that he can throw off the blankets and climb in to the entertainment shelf. I wondered how long it would take him to start climbing. He loves his new trick and decided to show off for Daddy when he got home. This time he got himself completely on the shelf and turned around. Emmett thinks this is pretty great.

Emmett also loves to play "Where's Emmett?!" He stands behind you and moves side to side while you look over your shoulder for him. His laughter is so contagious! He really keeps Luke and I going sometimes.

Excited to check out a movie tonight. Still not sure what we are seeing, but to us it doesn't matter. Luke is pumped for the popcorn and I am looking forward to 2 hours sans child.

Busy weeknd

We had a great weekend with nice weather and got to enjoy the outdoors a little. Saturday morning we went to the Annual Optimists Club "Garagarama". I was told that it would be similar to a flea market/antique show, but they were slightly wrong. We pulled up to the arena to find no parking. It is so packed that we had to park across the street and down the road a little. It was definitely an enormous garage sale. Luke made the comment that "the only thing antique was the VHS copy of Jurassic Park." He was right, but you never know until you go! After the "garagarama" , we went to watch our neighbor Donald in his JV soccer match. It was his last home game and he played really well. They wound up in a tie against Lander. Emmett loved being able to run around in the huge grassy park, touching the bark on trees and learning that pine needles are sharp. I think he actually said"so this is what nature feels like" since he won't see any of it at home for quite some time! It will be a bit til we get to the grass/trees and other landscaping.

On Sunday we went to the park with Daddy. He loved playing with his dad on the slide. He loves the merry-go-round but doesn't move around much. For now that is a good thing. He always falls and bumps his head on the metal bars. You know the sound I'm still hearing ring thru my ears! BONG! After we left the park, we decided to try out the walking path down by the Shosone river. It is a really nice trail, not great scenery, but still a great spot to take E for walks this spring and summer. Lots of birds, other walkers, and the wonderful sound of rushing water from the river. It felt nice to get a little sun on our faces too! We were invited to dinner at the Reedy's. We had a nice time and it is always great to see the boys play together. Emmett had a great time riding in the wagon. We're gonna have to pick one of those up for summer. Their home is really coming together nicely no that they are unpacked and settled in. Their basement is really moving along as well.

Luke and I have Date Night tomorrow eve at the movie theater. MOPS is putting on a movie date night for $5- both tickets, drinks and popcorn. Our neighbor Chris is watching Emmett along with her son Donald. Donald is in training for possibly watching Emmett this summer now and again.
Oh yeah, Emmett has discovered that he can sit in a few of my tupperware bowls! and he especially likes the colanders. He can see where he is walking!

Time flies

Can you believe how quickly time goes by? Debbie sent us some pictures from when they were here in November 2007. Emmett looks so young(I almost put "tiny", but he looks pretty chunky to me!) Thanks for sending the pics our way.

This picture is too funny not to post.

Wonderful weekend visit

My parents were here for the weekend. We had wonderful weather for the first and last half, and it snowed all day on Sunday. Today has turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and Emmett, if feeling better, might get to go outside and play! I think he must be getting more teeth. He has been waking up all hours of the night and crying all the time. Not like himself. I took him to the doc on Monday and it is definitely not another ear infection. It seems we just have to wait this phase out as well.
Before the snow moved in, we all headed up to Billings to exchange a few things at Lowes for the basement. Then we went into Red lodge to have some lunch and walk around the town. The wind got a little chilly to walk around for too long and Emmett was screaming for a nap.
We made lots of great meals while the folks were here. Fig and chili glazed pork, grilled pizzas, and delicious salmon. We also played plenty of cards. Luke and Dad won last night, but Mom and I won the other four nights!!!!
I will update with pictures when I have a bit more time.

Congrats to Amy on landing her first job post graduation! We are all very proud of you!

Busy Boy

Emmet loves his Grow and Go Rider. Check out the video!

One of his new things is the "what do you mean?" look. He puts his hands up in the air and truly "says" what-me?do that? This is the closest I could get to capture the moment.

Casper Weekend

We had a great weekend in Casper, WY with Deb and Mark. Luke had an appreciation dinner with his company at the Country Club and the Grandparents came up to watch Emmett for us. Then we all got to spend time together the rest of the weekend.

Let me start at the beginning. We arrived in Casper on Friday around noon. I had to drop Luke off at the office, since we were not able to have an early check in at the hotel. Emmett and I had to waste time somewhere...Target! Shortly after our room was ready and Emmett and I unloaded the car, he in his carseat while I carried everything inside. Emmett sure loves hotel rooms. We were not even there but 15 minutes and he had the room torn apart. I finally got him down for a much needed nap, since he did not sleep much on the ride down. I got to relax in the hotel courtyard and catch up on my magazine reading. Since Emmett was sleeping, Luke caught a ride home from his meeting and minutes later, here comes Grandma! Arms open wide for her grandson...who was sleeping. She could hardly stand it. Needless to say she made it til he woke up. Then the fun began. Mark so kindly brought the "bar" for our rooms. Wine and beer for all. Luke and I got ready for his dinner, which was at a very pretty Country Club, nestled next to the mountain. Mark dropped us off for dinner and we made it just in time for cocktail hour. We found other young couples to sit with for the evening. Lucky me, one lady was preggo, the others were drinking beer so the bottle of white wine they dropped off at the table for dinner had my name on it! It was a very nice dinner, with lots of great people. Afterwards we took a cab to meet a few of the people at a bar called Sidelines. We pulled up and the first words out of my mouth are"we are not staying long." I think we were there for 3 hours. I really thought I could dance(that's how much wine I had!). Then the fiasco began. We got a ride home with another couple that were staying at the same hotel. We got back to the hotel and I can't find my purse. We call the bar, they can't find it. We don't really know the couple who brought us home, so we are(in the dark mind you) peeping in their car windows to see if I left it in their backseat. Can't see it. So, being slightly impaired, I am bawling! My phone, my credit cards....I am supposed to be responsible...blah, blah blah. We went to bed and I awoke from my coma the next morning and decided to check their car again. There it is. Shining in the morning sun. Fiasco over. We contacted the couple and got my purse back. On with the weekend!

Deb, Mark, Luke and Emmett went to the swimming pool on Saturday morning. It was a hoot. Afterward we went to lunch and then Deb and I got to hit the mall, while the boys went to take a nap.

Our hotel rooms were on the first floor and opened out to the courtyard. It was great for letting Emmett run. We all had to take turns "lapping " the courtyard with him. He was up the stairs, down the stairs, around and around. He wore us out!

We went for a nice dinner at the Outback. I spilled my blueberry martini first thing. I was a mess this weekend! It was a delicious martini though. I am going to have to look up the ingredients. Fun dinner anyway, and then we headed back for some more chase with Emmett at the hotel. He went to bed and the adults played cards for hours! Deb and I won!!!!!! We played cards like I have never seen us play cards. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. Minus my drama.
Today is about 70 degrees and beautiful, not to last for too long. I think it is gone by tomorrow. So Emmett and I are going to head out for a walk and then to get his hair cut.

Luke and his boss, Bob.

Swim class

So we decided to go to swim class. and Dad came to watch and document the whole thing! Emmett is so happy to be in the water, when you do what he wants to do. He does not like to be on his back. He really does love everything else about swim class. Ok, maybe not so much the "scooping" or dunking him under water, but you get the picture. We are meeting Debbie and Mark in Casper on Friday, and our hotel has an amazing indoor pool in the courtyard. He will be in heaven. This first video is me trying to teach him to jump in on the count of 3. Sometimes it works, other times he get really excited and jumps in early or not at all(another one of those what-he-wants-to-do moments).
This next video is of the group getting ready to scoop the kids. Not very many of them like to be dunked....but it is good for them to learn. Emmett does not like to close his mouth during swim class. You can probably imagine how much water he swallows while being dunked!

The garden class was great. I took away some really great ideas and plenty of information on gardening in Wyoming.
Check out my weird cactus. Chrissy and I dug up a few cactus from my front yard and planted them for indoors. This one is doing something crazy....

Shout outs..

Happy first birthday Jack! Jack turned 1 year old yesterday. Hope you had a wonderful day filled with cake and presents! Can't wait to see pictures of your party!
Way to go KU! Luke promised he would be happy for an entire year if the Jayhawks won...... He has already ordered his championship gear. Glasses for the new bar(no where near done!) t-shirts and other stuff. Pretty exciting game huh?! I was asleep by 8:30pm last night and didn't see a thing. I didn't even hear Luke yelling at the tv. I guess he was so pumped that he couldn't go to bed, so he made himself a drink, called all of his KU fans, and smoked a cigar on the front porch. Mind you, it is 35 degrees or less outside at 9 pm. Sorry I missed it.
Not sure if we are going to swim class today. He seems to be doing better, but not quite full steam. Luke got to stay home this morning(not just to nurse his hangover) and watch Emmett for my doctor appt and I am also going to a gardening meeting over the lunch hour. It is all about planting perennial gardens. Perfect for our future yard/gardens.

Poor little E

Emmett has the flu. After talking with Jenny this morning, I have come to the conclusion that he has the flu. Vomiting, the poohs, tired, isn't hungry....these all add up to no one sleeping. Emmett was up constantly last night and is not taking very good naps. Maybe 20 mins at a time. Luke quietly admitted that he hopes E is done vomiting, but if not he hopes I get it the next time. He has had 2 instances of having to jump in the shower and rinse off. Makes for a long few days. Luke needed to get out of the house and was indebted to help the Reedy's move some things into their new home today. It was good for him to leave for a bit. He has a very weak stomach when it comes to the smell of pooh and vomit. Unfortunately, I think Emmett and I will have to miss swim class tomorrow. I don't want him getting the other kids sick. Hopefully he starts feeling better. We are seeing Grandma and Grandpa this Friday up in Casper. Luke has a work meeting/function on Friday and Mark and Deb are coming up to stay with us for the weekend. Should be a lot of fun.

What a fun week!

Mom and Tot swim lessons are done for the week. I met some really wonderful moms this week. One of them attends MOPS as well. We had a meeting for MOPS on Wednesday. It was a nice meeting, with really good discussions. We have two more meetings left before summer(we start up again in fall). It is great cause they meet up in the local parks this summer on Wednesdays for play dates. That works out awesome for those of us with no grass in their yards!
Uncle Mike was in town for two days. Emmett(as well as Luke andI) loved having him here. Mike plays with him ruff house style and he loves it! Laughing all the way. We took Mike to La Comida(YUM!) and grilled out some steaks from the meat store. It was a really great visit.
Spring is in the air. Flips flops have left the closet and are getting shined up! I have started my outdoor plants in an indoor greenhouse. Some already have sprouts! Leeks, artichokes, onions, and lots of kinds of peppers. They will be transplanted in mid/late may. Nothing like fresh veggies. I also have squash and zucchini to plant in may as well. I might try to grow some tomato plants...we'll see. Emmett tried and likes tomatoes, so we might give it a shot. Then we can try to can some tomato sauce at the end of the season(like aunt Becky's!).

I almost forgot...April Fool's Day!

Today is April Fool's Day. It is also the mark of the 8th year of Luke and I together. Luke swears our first date was on April 1st(it was actually in late March). But I guess this way it is easy to remember. Happy 8th-year-together anniversary! A lot has happened in 8 years. Graduations, careers, a fire, a kid, and lots of happiness. Thanks for it all! I love you.

Busy week

This week is a very busy week for us all. Emmett and I started our swim class and we have a MOPS meeting on Wednesday. I have an neighborhood water association meeting tonight at the courthouse. It will be nice to see how things work with our association meetings. Also, Mike Williams will be in town for two days. Can't wait to see him! I sure do wish that his family could be with him. We miss them too!!!!! Maybe next time.

Last night we celebrated the closing of their new home with our friends the Reedy's. I watched their son Caleb while they signed paperwork. Luke came home a little early to watch them with me. It was fun watching the boys play. Very into whatever the other was playing with. As soon as one of them would put a toy down, the other would swoop in and take it. They never took toys from one another. They played very well together. We got to tour their new house before dinner. It is a really great space for them. Nice backyard, great pantry! and lots of room for Caleb and his toys! The unfinished basement is already in the works to become a fantastic master suite, along with some storage and an office. They really got into a great house, in a nice neighborhood. Congrats to the Reedy's!!! Dinner was fun. We ate at the Rib and Chop house. Delicious halibut and steaks! Don't forget the wine! The kids started to get restless so it was time to call it a night.

These are some pics from a drive Luke and I went on this past weekend. We decided to take a trip up to the east gate of Yellowstone. Emmett was out before we saw any of the sheep. I'm sure he will have plenty of opportunities to see wildlife this summer.
