Dino Museum

A few of us ladies went to the dino museum in Thermopolis Wyoming this morning. Dawn, who has a newborn, Cade, all of a month old and Jaren, who is 2 1/2, Courtney and the girls, plus Emmett and I took off this morning for an hour plus car ride to the museum. We were certainly not too sure of what to expect. It was an over sized metal building that literally took us about 10 minutes to walk through. The kids seemed to really enjoy the museum, as the museum workers didn't care if the kids ran their hearts out. They ran and ran and ran circles around the huge erected dinosaur bones. Sure, they ohhhhhed and ahhhhed for the first few minutes, but that soon wore off and they started running. Courtney, Dawn and I brought lunches and got to enjoy a bit of chatting before nap time hit the children like a ton of bricks. It was time to head out. They all had naps in the car, but could have lasted longer for all us moms. We were worn out as well. It was good to have gone and seen the museum, but it is definitely a one time visit only kinda place.

Emmett's charming vocabulary

Emmett has become quite the chatter bug lately. Replies to every comment and has very funny things to say these days. For instance.....
Yesterday, Emmett was riding his motorized 4 wheeler around the house. He stopped at the bathroom, where I was, flung open the door, rode his bike in and states"Seatbelts, Mommy. So we can be safe!", laughed and turned his bike around and rode out. Needless to say, I was in a good spot to nearly pee my pants. I believe he got that one from Dora the Explorer. She always wears her seatbelt and says it's to be safe. Maybe enough tv time this week?
Daddy seems to have more of the mockingbird syndrome on his hands. The other night, Emmett knocked over dad's pop and dad exclaimed "Damn it!". Emmett repeated this word over and over until Luke could get him on something else. Luke thought this was the end of it.....yesterday, Emmett knocked/poured out his glass of water and says"Damn it!" picked up his glass and dropped it again and says "Damn it!" maybe a bit louder, just in case I didn't hear him. I think I was in shock at the words coming out of a two year and six day olds mouth. Luke is pleased that it took him until after two!

All by himself!

I set up the camera to help Emmett with his skates and then he did it all by himself! He is such a fast learner! The way he falls at the end reminds me of skating parties we used to have back in Illinois at Pleasant View. Reminds me of me....finally something that resembles me(I was/am a huge klutz....just imagine that on skates!)

22 weeks...only 16 more to go!

I went to the doctor today and everything is going swell. I gained 7 more lbs....in the last 4 weeks. I think I must have looked like I was gonna cry cause the nurse immediately said not to worry that I was right on track. On track for what?! Blimphood? I have actually not gained as much as I did with Emmett at this point so that's the bright side. Here's to 16 more weeks.....

Dinner with the Andersons

We had a great time with the Anderson family last evening. Darby and Cooper gave Emmett his first pair of rollerskates for his birthday. He loves them, not on his feet, but on his hands as he runs around the basement with them! The skates could be the cause of his first lost tooth....
The guys watched some march madness and the kids played quietly in the basement and Courtney and I got to have normal conversation with minimal interuption. It was a very nice night. Cake was eaten by all, especially Emmett. He stuffed his face with birthday cake-nothing beats good ol' walmart cake!

I was able to shorten the play gym video to finally fit the format. Enjoy!

Emmett's all-day birthday!

We had such a great day for Emmett's birthday. It began with opening cards the night before! He loves the singing cards, unlike his father who despises the annoying things. Both grandparents sent singing cards and Aunt Chrissy sent one that was a little off....but really funny. Emmett was not sure about it at first, but eventually laughed when he opened it. The card starts ticking and then explodes into this high pitch chatter of "birthday time" and "it's your birthday" and other stuff. I am not sure how much you can decipher from the video!
We went to the park the next day since the weather was beautiful and there was no wind. Otherwise we would have had to hole up indoors like we are this weekend! Glad the weather gods were smiling on Emmett's birthday! A few of our friends met up, had a small lunch and cupcakes to celebrate and went home for naps. When Emmett woke up, we headed into town and met Luke at the rec center to go swimming. He loves the pool and it was the perfect treat with Daddy! Nothing exciting for dinner except presents! He wouldn't even sit to eat he was so excited. Basically they were gifts leftover from Christmas(hence, the snowman wrapping paper!) that we never got to. He loves the ramps garage and the truck hauler, could care less about the books I got him, oh well. Then after bath time and PJ's, he got to go to the basement and receive his big gift from Grammy and Poppy, Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Chrissy (and a little bit from his parents). A woodland climber play gym. He loves it. I have been in the basement playing since around 6:45m this morning. He takes his cars to the top and races them down the slide and follows them down, then runs around and does it again. "My turn! My turn!" like anyone else is playing with it at the time?!
We have one last little birthday dinner with the Andersons this evening with a tiny cake for Emmett and the girls and delicious steaks for the adults. I made a cake for us as well, don't worry- the pregnant girls will get their cake too! It just doesn't have the bright blue frosting, balloons and candles on it. It should be a good time.

Emmett's 2nd Birthday at the Park

Emmett and his friend Katie Dewey share the same birthday, so we had a small party at the park today for their 2nd birthdays. It was nice and small and the weather cooperated beautifully. No wind and 60 something degrees! We are going to give Emmett his large gift tonight after he gets to go swimming with Daddy at the pool. Should be an exciting day for one little boy I know!

Sugar and spice and everything nice....

that's what little GIRLS are made of. We just found out this morning that we are having a girl! Here comes the onslaught of pink!!! The ultrasound tech was awesome, not whom I expected, but awesome. He was an enormous black man that knew his way around a uterus! He was friendly, funny and very informative about what he was doing and seeing. He seemed to have a bit of trouble seeing whether it was a boy or a girl. First, without even looking he said "you're having a girl." Then he saw the image and said "I think it's a boy....nope, it's a girl. Let me double check....yep, it's a girl." You can "clearly" see in the ultrasound that it is indeed a "she". Her first embarrassing photo. Of her hoo-hoo none the less......

Busy boy

Emmett sure keeps us busy these days. I have really been trying to video some of the funny moments, but seem to never catch him in the act. For instance, I swear the camera was rolling(come to find out, I was wrong!) when he sang "the Itsy Bitsy Spider". SOOOO Freakin' cute and then he wouldn't perform it again when asked. He also loves the window clings that I got out for Easter. He moves them around the window and redecorates all day long. And for once, they don't seem to go into his mouth. I think we may have gotten past that stage....fingers crossed.
Luke is hosting the poker game this evening. About 8 guys coming over for many cocktails and hopefully to leave their money at the door!
We find out Monday what we are having. Should make for an extra long weekend!
I promise, Grandmas, that I will keep trying to videotape the singing.

Cars, cars, cars!

Luke left only yesterday for his last insurance class in the series. Normally, the classes are in Denver, but this last one is in Salt Lake City. I am not sure that I am going to make it til he gets home on Saturday night! I have played cars all day, everyday, every waking moment. I have gone to the gym, we went swimming this morning, playgroups, you name it-anything but cars and we still come home to "Cars? Play cars?". At least it's not dolls, but C'MON!
Luke got to have dinner with my cousin Trish, her husband Cody and their boys, Brayden and Colten, last night. He said they had a good time and he really enjoyed getting to visit with them all. Luke gets to hang out with them again on Saturday before he flies home. Lucky hubby!
