Big Boy Potty

Emmett has pee'd in the big boy potty! He told me he had to go potty (I, of course, did not believe him) and off to the potty we went. Pants down, diaper off and we had pee-pee in the potty! I thought my jaw was going to fall out of my head. Emmett was so incredibly proud of himself and was so happy when he told daddy as he walked in the door from work. We of course called the grandparents for more reinforcing praise. Now, I don't doubt that we have a long road ahead of us, but it's a start, right?!

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit.

Deb and Mark just left to head back to Colorado Springs. We had a wonderful visit this past week. As usual, we tried new recipes and drank a bit of wine(myself included! It was alcohol free wine, but who cares.) Emmett has been really great in restaurants lately so we braved a nice dinner and really enjoyed ourselves. Emmett sure loved having someone other than Mom to drag around. I believe the favorite saying of the weekend was " Play (name an activity) ? OK C'mon in!" and you would get taken to his room and made to sit down where ever he pointed.

I had a girly Saturday planned with my friend Courtney in Red Lodge, so Luke and the grandparents took Emmett to the Arbor Day celebration in town. It wasn't very fun I guess, but they brought back three trees and three bushes to plant in the yard. Yea, free landscaping! We certainly did not have very nice weather while they were here in town. It was dreary and off and on snow/rain mix. Still no improvement since they've left......

Deb and I tried our best at cards each night, but seemed to have the same luck we always do...losing. I can't even blame the wine since I don't consume any, the boys just seem to get better cards than we do. I think we won 2 out of 6 games. Oh well, we'll get 'em next time Deb!

Clifford comes to town!

Today was an exciting day if you were under the age of five. Clifford was at the library! I loved the kids reaction when the big, red, dog himself came bounding thru the doorway. I would love to be that excited about anything!!! There were lots of moms and kids that I knew and tons of daycare children that all came by huge vans. The carpet was packed. A lady from Wyoming PBS read the kids a Clifford story and for some reason, Emmett wanted to sit in the chair beside her. Eventually he just got up and moved back to the carpet to see the pictures and finish listening to the story. Once we got our picture of Emmett on Clifford's lap, we were out of there. What a mad house.

Tomorrow, we are headed to the park for a picnic with some other moms and kids. Supposed to be in the high 60's. Then possible snow this weekend- just in time for Mark and Deb to come. I was really hoping for the nice weather to continue for their stay. Hopefully the weather guy is wrong......

Proud Dad

The evening of easter, Luke decided to clean up his golf clubs on the front porch. Of course, it wasn't long before Emmett noticed Daddy was outside, why wasn't he????!!! So Emmett got to go outside and "help" daddy on the porch. Soon enough, Luke gave Emmett an old broken club and a ball to play with. Who knew we had a white, half-pint, Tiger Woods on our hands? By the time they came inside, Luke was amazed at how well he could actually hit the ball and Emmett was grinning ear to ear cause he had so much fun with daddy. Then started crying cause it was almost bedtime! Story of our lives these days now that it stays light out later. He wants to be outside every minute of the day and throws a fit if it doesn't happen. Perils of nice weather....I'll deal with it for a bit of sunshine and warmth!

Easter photos

Here are a few photos of the easter bunny and the egg hunt at the golf course. For some reason, Emmett didn't mind wearing the bunny ears....most of the day! He laughed when others put them on, but wore them for the entire egg hunt and for most of the pictures. We ran into the Andersons while the girls were taking pictures with the easter bunny. Emmett wanted nothing to do with the easter bunny. I think Luke walked him by the bunny while I took a picture. That's the best we could do this year. The weather was gorgeous and enjoyed by everyone(now we are awaiting snow this week...). Mom and I cooked a prime rib easter dinner with Mark's texas potatoes and new recipe for cheddar scones. It was delicious, even though I over cooked the prime rib slightly...

Easter morning

We have had a wonderful Easter morning. The sun is shining and our bellies are full from a wonderful breakfast made by grammy. Later, we are going to head into town for the egg hunt at the golf course. Happy Easter to you all!

Emmett's first Peep

This video was taken by Chrissy on her phone so the resolution isn't real great, but the video is funny none the less.

Visit with Grammy

We were able to head home last week to visit with Grammy. It was a very nice visit, a bit of snow, and a ton of running errands. We got to visit with Debbie for lunch one day and do a bit of shopping in Denver. I think I have just about everything I could possibly need for this next baby(except maybe some peace and quiet, but that's overrated anyway, right?!). Aunt Chrissy came up to the house for dinner every night we were in town, so we got to see her quite a bit. She brought Easter candy for all to enjoy. Emmett had his first real taste of a Peep. Pretty funny and he, of course, loved it! Ken grilled steaks the night before the storm and we had a wonderful steak and lobster feast to welcome the many inches of snow. Emmett was invited to Jack Canales 2nd birthday party and he had a blast. Balloons, cupcakes, and lots of new toys. He actually snuck upstairs and was riding around on Jack's surprise motorized vehicle that had yet to be unveiled. Jack gave Emmett a belated birthday gift of beautiful wooden blocks and Cars undies. He loved wearing the big boy undies. Tantrum getting him into his nightime diaper!

Mom, Emmett and I drove back to Cody on Tuesday. We had great weather until the snow started falling early this morning, but it is supposed to be in the 60's for Easter on Sunday. Mom and I painted the baby's room today. It looks so nice to have color on the walls again. Joey's rooms will look just like Emmett's did at the Littleton house. Same paint color, same dot design and animals(aka same bedding!). We have not decided what to do with Emmett's room yet. I think we'll wait to see if he likes his big boy bed and then we can pick out sheets.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!!!!!!
