Worst-Mom-Ever Award goes to......Me!

Worst mom ever award went to me yesterday. Joey burnt her fingers on the fireplace. It was turned off, but still really hot. She was in her walker and reached out and touched the glass. Second degree burns- I had Ted check her out and he gave me a burn salve with pain relief in it as well as triple antibiotic ointment. She seems fine and still uses that hand all the time. We are just keeping it clean to prevent infection. He is going to recheck it on Tuesday to make sure it still looks ok and we don't need to go to doctor. It sure is great having a nurse as a neighbor. Poor little girl :(

Boot Camp has begun!

I am sore in places I didn't even know existed! I am only three hours out from my first "Body Revolution" work out and have lost one of my lungs somewhere and can hardly sit down because then I know I have to get back up at some point!!! Three days a week at 5:30am....it might kill me, but my butt will be smaller!

Tanya's Baby Shower

I hosted a baby shower for my girlfriend Tanya. She looks fantastic for being due in five weeks!!! My new recipes turned out fantastic!- Brooklyn Cheese Puffs, White Wine Sangria Slushies(!), Ice Box Cake and Caesar Dip. I put together a diaper cake, with the ideas from Dawn. It turned out pretty cute. Dawn also had the idea of stringing a clothes line to hang baby clothes on for decoration. Since I had already bought her some clothes for the new baby boy....worked great! Also, Tanya was "passed" the fertility mug. I was given the mug at my shower and now she is to pass the torch to the next preggo friend. This mug started with Amy Eckert and has touched a few mom's hands. Kacie, Courtney, Tanya and myself to start. Many more to come.

Great memory

Today, I had a few tears in my eyes. Jolene and I were sitting on the floor playing and Emmett came over to join us. I just sat back and watched as my two adorable children played together. Emmett was "driving" his truck around and making Jolene laugh as she tried to catch it. It kept going and going til they both couldn't laugh any longer. It was such a great moment for me as a mom to see my kids playing so nicely together. I am sure that this is short lived as Jolene will be mobile soon and into all of Emmett's toys. He's not gonna like that very much......

Jolene at 7 months

We just got home from Jolene's 6-7 month visit with the doctor. She is doing great, a bit on the small to average size. She is 14.8 lbs and 26 1/2 inches tall. And a fighter! She fought those shots tooth and nail. So bad that she bent the needle twice and they had to start over with a new needle.
I was just informed by a naked-supposed to be napping- 2year old, that he pooped and peed in his diaper-which he was not wearing. Shocked, I took him back up to his room to see what kind of mess would be waiting for me. He just peed in his diaper and decided to take it off. We are getting close to potty training because he now hates when he pees in his diaper. I have recently started telling him that soccer starts this summer and they only wear big kid underwear to play. We'll see how that scars him for life or gets him potty trained. I put another diaper back on and put him back in bed for the remainder of what ever this nap time is, and had to get Jolene out of her crib, since that naptime has since ended as well. Turns out, she just wanted to spit up/vomit on my pants and the carpet just now while typing this post. Wonderful.
Prior to all of this mayhem, I have committed myself to the Self Challenge. It is a few months of workouts and strength training with food logs and the whole deal. Mom and I have a bet on who will lose more weight before she gets here in April. Winner gets taken to lunch at the tea room, with pricey coffees and dessert and lunch-the works. I plan on winning that bet and eating my heart out in April. Have a great trip Mom!

photo shoot

Here are a few of the photos from Target. They are pretty darn good if
you ask me!

The lights went out in Cody!

Ok maybe not all of Cody, but the lights went out at our house for a few hours last night. The snow started to fall hard around 3 pm and the first outage was at 4pm. The lights came back on around 5pm and out again at 5:30pm. It woke Emmett up from his nap and at first Emmett was not quite sure what to think, but once he realized that he got to use the flashlight, he was ok. I showed him how much it had snowed and threw him outside to play and catch snowflakes. After awhile I called Luke and told him to bring home dinner since I couldn't cook(woo-hoo!) Once Luke got home, the lights came on and I still didn't have to cook! After "dinner", the boys bundled up and went out to get the mail. Nothing better to do. We also had a playdate on the floor in front of the gas fireplace with flashlights and lots of candles. Luke had to explain the "there are no monsters." and "that is just a shadow." Jolene went to bed as usual and thankfully, the lights came back on just in time to see the good parts of the Olympics that were on last night! We wound up with about 4-5 inches of snow out of the springtime-ish storm.

Jolene is doing pretty well at sitting now. I still prop her with the boppy pillow to make sure she doesn't bonk her head. Pretty cute!

Back to visit

We headed down to Colorado Springs for a visit with Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Mark. It was a great trip and we really enjoyed the time spent with family. we played some late night cards, Deb and I had some late night wine, a great dinner with the cousins(and Matt and Becky, of course!), and a fun lunch with Amy and her girlfriend Becky. I really enjoyed getting to know Becky and look forward to seeing she and Amy more! Deb and I took the kids to have their pictures done at a Target Portrait Studio. They were great and the photos turned out pretty darn good, but I am biased! I got to visit-very quickly- with Emily and the Christensen's, while the kids napped one day. I took off and got a 5 hour break from the kids. Gracie just celebrated her first birthday! So I had to take her a present since I was just missing the big day by one week. It was nice to see Sarah, Ryan and the girls and look forward to having them out for July 4th!!!!!

We left the springs on SuperBowl Sunday to meet my mom at the park and ride, so Luke could drive her truck home and drop me and the kids off for a few days with mom. It decided to snow and snow pretty hard. It was beautiful up at the house, but getting there was a battle. We slide down her "street"-and I use that term loosely!- sideways and had to use my floormats under the tires to get enough traction to make it up the hill. Long story- short....it was more fun to look at from the inside out than to be outside! It cleared up and we drove home in time to host a Valentine's Day Playdate. We had a great time making valentine's with the kids and as always, eating way to much food. Then the plague hit. Luke and I got to go out on Friday night. At first, I thought maybe I had too much to drink...but it was much more than that. Horrible stomach cramps, vomiting and achy all over. Then it was Jolene who caught the bug. She's been puking and pooping(I use that term very "loosely") for almost 6 days. I took her in to the urgent care on Valentine's day, day two of the bug, and the doc told me she had thrush and gave me an rx. Wrong-o buck-o. You've got to be kidding me. Anyway, I did not fill his rx and now we are almost back to normal on day 6. What a waste of time and money that doc was. A huge thanks to my mom for all of her help with the billion diapers we all have changed in the past week.

Emmett's new camera

Emmett takes after me when it comes to his camera. He needs to take it everywhere and always wants to take your picture. He even takes pictures of his favorite tv shows. ? It was certainly interesting taking his latest pictures off his camera to see what he has been photographing.

Pictures: Tv shows- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins, his cars on the stool, Heart Mountain, the librarian at Story time, mom cooking, Jolene, Dad with Bart Simpson, and (my personal favorite) Mom with Homer Simpson.(I snuck in the finger because I am such a huge fan of the simpsons!) Not to worry Aunt Amy! Emmett loves them. until they run away to wrestling camp and never return.....
