Passing of a dear Mother

We headed back to Denver for a very sad occasion. Dayven's mother, Karen, passed away on Wednesday. Dayven is like a brother to Luke and Karen's passing was very hard to process. It was a lovely service and Dayven spoke like a champ about his mom. Everyone had a nice lunch following in the basement of the church and laughed and cried as we shared the great memories we have with Karen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Chrissy had fun too!

Chrissy had a great costume for Halloween this year. She (of course) made some of it : the badges, the vest, her beret.....yup... she was a girl scout. a naughty one. Even her purse was thin mint box. You are sooo creative!

Halloween Fun

So we had a really nice time on Halloween. The city of Cody holds a Trick or Treat Street event that starts early(3:30pm) and they close the downtown streets for the kids to walk store to store and "trick or treat". Not too many kids go door to door in the neighborhoods since the city offers to hold it all in one spot. It's safe, no cars and it's daylight. Not quite the experience I remember, but.....

We started at Luke's office. The ladies there wanted to see Emmett and they had candy ready for him. It was a good indicator of what to expect when we got downtown. He immediately put the candy, wrapper and all, in his mouth. By the time we left the office, he was putting the candy in his bag successfully. We did however give him a sucker for the car ride. He was so sticky and would not give the sucker up. You will notice that he has it in a deathgrip in some of the photos. He had such a great time seeing friends, all of the costumes and the store windows that were all decorated. Emmett was asleep when we got home at 5pm or so. We decided to let him take a catnap before the costume came off and dinner was ready.

Then on Saturday, we headed up to Billings with Courtney and her girls to visit the Zoo. We thought it was still nice enough weather to enjoy and probably won't be around much longer. The zoo is nice for the area. It was set up nicely and got to see the animals up close. There are not too many to look at, but it was a good time just the same. Then we decided to run an errand at Target and get some lunch. There was a Chuck e Cheese next to the Target and that's where we went. The kids loved it. Emmett cried when I tried to feed him lunch, cause he wanted to be on the toys. and cause he was exhausted. We hurried thru lunch and headed for home.

The time change has been a little rough for Emmett. Waking up at 5:30am, wanting to eat really early and not wanting to go to bed early. Hopefully he starts to adjust or we'll all go crazy!

Surgery went well.

We all got up at 3:30 am this morning and hit the road around 4am to Billings. The hospital there is really amazing and the people were great. They have this huge atrium at the admitting desk. Emmett just loved the trout display! They took us right back and got things rolling. His gown was pretty cute- koalas in space- and just his size. They gave him crayons, a coloring book, sunglasses and a bunch of stickers to occupy his time. LOVES the stickers we discovered. Emmett has taken quite a few doses of antibiotics and takes them like a champ. When they brought in the "woozy" meds, he was thrown for a loop that they went up his nose! He had his mouth open and everything. He quickly became "drunk" and a happy one at that. He waved and hollered at every nurse, doctor and patient that came by. Most were courteous and waved back. The doc and the scrub techs then came and took him back for sedation and sent us to the waiting room. 25 mins later Dr. Price came in and rushed us down to meet Emmett in recovery. I guess he woke up pretty quick but in a panic. He was screaming and wailing when we got to him. Probably the hardest part of our day. He didn't know where he was and seemed just terrified. Once he calmed down, he fell asleep in my arms for a bit and recovered. I guess his right ear is really infected(the one from last week...still!) and he is on antibiotic ear drops that burn when we put them in(horrible) and another round of oral antibiotics. All in all, everything went really well today and we are on our way to healthy ears!

$2.49!?

It is so good to see gas at $2.49. It sure makes trip back home so much more affordable. I filled up for our trip to Billings tomorrow and it was less than $50!!! We leave for Billings in 8 hours to make sure we are checked in at 6 am for Emmett's surgery. He goes under at 7:20am and should be done and leaving the hospital by 9am. It should be pretty quick and painless, but will seem like hours!

He loves to wear his sunglasses lately. Does not want to take them off. He wears them while eating, playing, in the car, everything but bathtime!
My parents are now home from their long vacation and had sent Emmett a care package of all the things they collected for him along the way. They found great deals at a Children's Place in the Northeast and also got him some really hilarious skunk slippers. He does not take them off. He even gets close to saying skunk! Mom say's they're for the "little stinker". I agree with the stinker part.
Time to watch some shows and head to bed!
